High altitude skiing course and Piz Palü
We meet at the valley station of the Diavolezza cable car. With the gondola we go up to almost 3000 meters and here one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Alps opens up to us. Around Diavolezza and on the Pers glacier we will learn everything important regarding ski mountaineering, i.e. ski touring with behavior on the glacier and in a rope team, rope technique (roping up, knots, etc.), crevasse rescue and route planning. Always in our mind is tomorrow's goal, the 3900 m high Piz Palü. After the training day we strengthen ourselves in the Berghaus Diavolezza.
We ski down to the Pers Glacier early in the morning, where we skin up and prepare for the ascent. We look for an easy way through the Cambrena quarries with its impressive glacial crevasses. At 3730 m we deposit our skis and climb with crampons and ice axe up to the eastern summit of the Piz Palü. When we have good conditions, we will also go further to the main summit at 3900 meters.
