The 1st Glacier Clean-Up Day last year was a complete success. Around 60 volunteers collected around 740 kilograms of waste on the Pers Glacier. Among the items found were wooden skis, insulation mats, decades-old tanning cream, food cans, nails, fabric scraps, aluminum foil, Styrofoam and much more.
On August 17, 2024, the Glacier-Clean-Up will enter its second round.
An unique chance to experience the wild glacier world of the Bernina massif and do an honorable service at the same time.
Meeting point is at 8.30 a.m. at the Pontresina mountaineering school, where all helpers will be equipped with harnesses and crampons. Afterwards we will drive to the Bernina Pass and take the gondola to the Diavolezza. After a short walk to the glacier, it's on time to get down to business: in small groups we collect as much as we can. Around noon we return to the Diavolezza mountain station.
